The palestinian shield consists of an eagle figure of clarified silver saber that holds a shield on its chest with the colors of the Palestinian flag placed vertically. The eagle rests on a horizontal strip on which the Arabic words دولة فلسطين (Dawlat Filastin: State of Palestine in English) are written. The eagle figure on the shield is known as “Eagle of” and has been adopted from the shield of the United Arab Republic. It also appears in the shields of Egypt and Iraq. Until January 6, 2013, the shield represented the Palestinian National Authority and carried the words السلطة الفلسطينية (Al-al-Filasṭīniyya, the Palestinian Authority). After the recognition by the UN of Palestine as an observer State no-member on November 30th, 2012, and the decision of the UN to replace the name “Palestine” by “State of Palestine”, a decree promulgated on January 5th, 2013 by Palestinian President Abbas Mahud officially replaced the name “Palestinian National Authority” with “State of Palestine”, a change that transfer immediately to the national shield.
Shaarif Hussein Ibn Ali designed the current flag as the great Arab revolt flag in june 1916. Palestinians rose it as the flag of the Arab Nationalist Movement in 1917. Also in that year, The Arab Baath party interpreted the flag as a symbol of the liberation and unity of the Arab nation. The Arab league recognized the flag of Palestine in 1948 in Gaza and it was adopted by the PLO representative of Palestinians in the Palestinians Conference in Jerusalem in 1964. An issued order prohibited its display and use by all means on August 27th, 1967. Those who opposed could be imposed to a sentence of 10 years of imprisonment or pay a large fine in Israeli liras. Zionist soldiers have used force in many cases to prevent its use and enforce this order. After forbidden, this flag became the symbol of the struggle for freedom of the Palestinian people, who rose the flag everywhere, thus, failed to fully comply with foreign military order.

Warrior, warrior, warrior,
Oh my land, the land of the ancestors
Warrior, warrior, warrior,
Oh my people, people of eternity
With my determination, my fire and the volcano of my vendetta
With the longing in my blood for my land and my home
I have climbed the mountains and fought the wars
I have conquered the impossible, and crossed the frontiers
With the resolve of the winds and the fire of the weapons
And the determination of my nation in the land of struggle
Palestine is my home, Palestine is my fire,
Palestine is my vendetta and the land of withstanding
By the oath under the shade of the flag
By my land and nation, and the fire of pain
I will live as a warrior, I will remain a warrior,
I will die as a warrior - until my country returns.
